Women have defended themselves against violence for ages and with a huge diversity of tools and methods. In this lecture on the history and principles of feminist self-defence we will visit women from Japan to the UK who trained, developed and taught other women self-defence. We’ll take a look at the major principles of feminist self-defence, which are what differentiate it from other self-defence courses and talk about the benefits, challenges and possibilities of feminist self-defence.
The lecture will be held english at Kynjaþing 2021 in Veröld, on November 13th at 2 p.m. It is suitable for everyone, whether they know nothing, a little bit, or a lot about feminist self-defence.
Slagtog is a new organisation founded in 2019 around a group of women and queer folx who came together to train self-defence. The organisation has as its main goal to offer feminist self-defence courses in Iceland and offer education and information on the topic as well as on genderbased violence
